Mixed herbaceous and shrub wetland with scattered bald-cypress trees, almost completely dry at time of collection.
Growing with Salix nigra, Cephalanthus occidentalis, Hibiscus laevis, Ludwigia palustris, Amaranthus sp., Persicaria hydropiperoides, P. pensylvanica, Phyla lanceolata, Ipomoea lacunosa, Echinochloa sp., Penthorum sedoides, Sesbania herbacea, etc.
Clonal shrub.

At least three larger clones, with stems up to 12 ft. tall and each with several hundred to several thousand stems. Numerous single stems or small colonies scattered between.
