Common in 'encino sacatonal" [Quercus castanea and Q. spp. with big tussocks of Muhlenbergia macrotis (now in flower), the canopy 5-8 m. tall], on steep rocky and gravelly, eroding SE-facing hills. Altitude ca. 1900 m.
Same population as 29010; adult plant, now totally past flower, leaves with very few teeth compared to 29010. Inflorescence in fruit, 6 m. tall.; Apparently just the robust extreme of the typical variety, but with a scmewhat longer corolla tube. Flowering stem 6 m. tall, 20 cm. diam. near base. Rosette acaulescent. Flowers yellow now in full, bloom, visited by hummingbirds. See photos!
