Habitat: rolling grassy hills in oak forest with a few pines. Locally abundant especially along small streams in oak woodland.
Description: Leaves very many in a basal rosette, soft, to 50 cm. long; spike to H - 5 m. long; fls. reddish green outside, greenish inside; filaments reddish; anthers yellow.
