ID confirmed as Cylindropuntia alcahes var. alcahes by Marc Baker.

Flower diameter 31-44 mm, length 38-42 mm, outer perianth reddish-brown with pale green midstripe or greenish-yellow with reddish-brown midstripe, inner perianth greenish-yellow with reddish-brown tips, reddish glochids on base of flowers, flowers collected early afternoon; stigma lobe number 4-5, color pale yellow-green, slight thigmotrophic response; joints gray-green with tubercules; spines white or light tan or golden brown; fleshy fruit yellow-green, diameter 21-27 mm, length 36-58 mm, slightly tuberculate; seeds tan, all fruit have at least one seed; dry fruit dark gray, diameter 13-17 mm, length 19-23 mm, seeds tan, all fruit have at least one seed; plant is dead.
