Flowers collected at 11:40 a.m.; flower diameter 34-53 mm, length 36-48 mm, outer perianth reddish-brown with lighter green midstripe or yellow-green with reddish brown midstripe; inner perianth yellow, darker at base, lighter at tips with reddish-brown tips, reddish-brown spines on base of flower; stigma lobe number 5-6, color pale yellow-green; slight thigmotrophic response; pollen collected; buds collected for chromosome count; joints gray-green with reddish-purple on dorsally exposed side, tubercules present; spines white or tan or golden brown or gray; multi-branching plant, height 42 inches; fleshy and dry fruit collected, color yellow-green, fleshy diameter 22-27 mm, length 27-37 mm; dry diameter 16 mm, length 23-24 mm, fruit slightly tuberculate, color green on inside; seeds tan with lime around the outer edge of the seed, all collected fruit have seeds; plant grown in cultivation at DBG id confirmed by Joni Ward using key in Biosystematics of Opuntia subgenus Cylindropuntia (Cactacea), the Chollas of Lower California, Mexico by Jon Rebman.
