Locality: USA, Cultivated at Desert Botanical Garden, Phoenix, AZ. Accession number 1992 1455 0102. Found in BED 31 during inventory in July 1992, no data.

Habitat: cultivated in Sonoran Desert
Description: Flower diam. 20-40 mm; length 35-39 mm, stigma lobe # 5-6, yellow; outer perianth dark with reddish midstripe; inner perianth yellow with reddish tips and red-green midstripe. Flower base covered with spines. Stem shape joint ,gray-green with a yellow tint, tuberculate aeroles; spines gray, brown tan or mixed. Areoles or tubercles in diagonal rows. Fruit gray-green immature to creamy white dry, fleshy or dry condition, fleshy fruit diam. 15 - 17 mm and dry fruit diam. 11-15 mm; fleshy fruit length 21-25 mm; dry fruit length 11-17 mm; seed color cream; one fleshy fruit sterile and 2 fleshy fruits with seeds.
