Full sun; rock outcrop in an open pasture previously grazed by cattle.
Dry, silty substrate.
Small bunchgrass less than 15 cm tall, perennial with runners extending laterally, roots fibrous; leaves 1-2mm wide; dioecious, female has burr-like ovary at center of base.
