Habitat: Sandy slope just below horizontal seep and hanging garden under arch; with Aquilegia micrantha, Adiantum capillis-veneris; diffusely branched loose mats; dolabriform pubescence; flowers bright purple; pods red mottled, unilocular, dorsi-ventrally compressed; several plants locally and occasional on canyon benches.
