United States, Kentucky, Madison, From southbound KY-52 in Richmond, KY (Lancaster Avenue), 0.3 miles east/northeast on Kit Carson Drive, approximately 0.15 miles east/southeast on McKinney Skills Drive. Turn south onto gravel road at sign for Taylor Fork Ecological Area. Continue south on gravel road, passing through the black gate (close after driving through) and over the small bridge. Gravel road will end in a loop at the entrance to Taylor Fork Ecological Area.

Found growing in clumps along the edge of a stream. The stream was flowing at the time of collection.
Pilea pumila, Juglans nigra, Polygonum sp., and Symphyotrichum sp.
A grass with sharp, recurved spines on the leaf margins. The base of the inflorescence is enclosed in the sheath. The sheath is mostly smooth both above and below the joint.
