Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Sedge meadow in western portion of southeastern lobe of prairie fen; significantly shrub encroached by Frangula alnus, Betula pumila, Cornus foemina. Toxicodendron vernix, Dasiphora fruticosa also present. Sedges in area include Carex stricta, C. sartwellii, C. buxbaumii. Other species include Lythrum salicaria, Thelypteris palustris, Eupatorium perfoliatum, Solidago patula. About 10m from creek edge. Ground moist but not inundated.
