Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Larix laricina prominent as medium sized trees in area; located in northern portion of prairie fen; about 15m east of the river; Carex stricta common in area; Cornus, Toxicodendron vernix, Betula pumila common in area; ground inundated and hummocky.
