Habitat: Large fen with high quality portions on eastern edge. Beautiful large Larix laricina trees shelter very diverse ribbons of fen. Large west portion is dominated by weedy species including Agrostis gigantea. Phalaris arundinacea dominates the fen/woodland interfaces. Bordered on north by creek and on south by woodland upland. Carex stricta dominated area with occasional shrubs in wester portion of prairie fen; about 70m north of woodland upland; shrubs in area include Toxicodendron vernix, Cornus foemina, and Cornus sericea. Occasional Acer rubrum trees as well; common species in area include Eutrochium maculatum, Thelypteris palustris, Solidago altissima, Pycnanthemum virginicum, and Rubus pubescens; ground hummocky, moist, but a little wet; very cold groundwater.
