United States, Michigan, Oakland, Long Lake Fen
Very long heterogenous fen with marked spots of high diversity and other large weedy zones. Fen elevated on norther and southern margins and depressed near central lakes (2). Bordered on north by woodland as well as on southern edge, but southern edge has a railroad and nearby row-crop agriculture. Typhaspp. appear to be heavily impacting fen. Diverse area. Many thin graminoids. Mostly Carex sterilis. Other graminoids include Carex flava, Muhlenbergia glomerata, Carex leptalea, Schoenoplectus acutus, and S. pungens. Other species include Rudbeckia fulgida, Dasiphora fruticosa, Solidago ohioensis, Galium boreale, Lysimachia thrysiflora, and Solidago uliginosa. Ground very hummocky due to previous burn. Very wet between hummocks.
