Cladium mariscoides (Muhl.) Torr.
Clint Pogue CP193
United States, Michigan, Oakland, Long Lake Fen
Very long heterogenous fen with marked spots of high diversity and other large weedy zones. Fen elevated on norther and southern margins and depressed near central lakes (2). Bordered on north by woodland as well as on southern edge, but southern edge has a railroad and nearby row-crop agriculture. Typhaspp. appear to be heavily impacting fen. Alternate due to Frangula monoculture. High quality area soon to be overtaken by Frangula. Common species in area include Dasiphora fruticosa, Solidago ohioensis, Cladium mariscoides, Schoenoplectus pungens, and Muhlenbergia glomerata. Other species include Liatris spicata, Rudbeckia fulgida, and Euthamia graminifolia. Ground moist and slightly marly. Typha monoculture to the south. Frangula wall to the west.
