Eutrochium maculatum L.
Clint Pogue CP151
United States, Michigan, Hillsdale, Little Goose Creek Grasslands
Mostly open prairie fen with strong prairie component. Bisected by Little Goose Creek. Some large swaths of Frangula alnus being treated by Michigan Nature Association. Weedy areas develop further downstream where fen narrows. Highly variable in regards to health of fen with some patches appearing pristine and other complet Phragmites australis stands. Private property is being heavily encroached by shrubs and turning the high quality fen into a patchwork of degraded/healthy fen. Weedy sedge meadow zone with significant shrub encroachment; dominated by Carex lacustris and Lythrum salicaria; other species include Eutrochium maculatum, Mentha canadensis, and Agrostis gigantea. Ground moist but not inundated; shrubs mostly Frangula alnus and Cornus sericea.
