Mostly open prairie fen with strong prairie component. Bisected by Little Goose Creek. Some large swaths of Frangula alnus being treated by Michigan Nature Association. Weedy areas develop further downstream where fen narrows. Highly variable in regards to health of fen with some patches appearing pristine and other complet Phragmites australis stands. Private property is being heavily encroached by shrubs and turning the high quality fen into a patchwork of degraded/healthy fen. Northern-most portion of fen. Sedge meadow with significant encroachment by Frangula alnus and Cornus spp. Herbaceous later mostly sedges and Asteraceae. About 50m west of Little Goose Creek. Juniperus and Populus tremuloides in sparse overstory. Rocky soils, 50% organic; soils change to clay at about 30cm down.
