Habitat: Prairie fen surrounded by small wood pockets and agricultural fields. Several vegetaion zones: sedge meadow, wooded, marl. Most previlent species include Cyperaceae, Dasiphora fruticosa, Cornus, Symplocarpus foetidus, and Typha. Some Phalaris arundinacea near woods on north section of fen. Many small creeks zig-zag fen (less than 1m wide). Woody cover includes Larix laricina, Betula pumila, other birches, and Toxicodendron vernix. Within 75m of western border, approximately center north-south of fen, 5m west of aspen grove. Sedge, Thelypteris palustris, and Dasiphora fruticosa dominant. Some asters and Betula pumila also prominent. Ground with tall tussocks (20-30cm tall), moist. Shrubs about 1 per 1-2m2in immediate area. Mostly Betula pumila but some Cornus and Toxicodendron vernix.
Description: Population - small plants (<10cm), found between tussocks with Carex tetanica and Thelypteris palustris, no flowers.
