Prairie fen surrounded by small wood pockets and agricultural fields. Several vegetaion zones: sedge meadow, wooded, marl. Most previlent species include Cyperaceae, Dasiphora fruticosa, Cornus, Symplocarpus foetidus, and Typha. Some Phalaris arundinacea near woods on north section of fen. Many small creeks zig-zag fen (less than 1m wide). Woody cover includes Larix laricina, Betula pumila, other birches, and Toxicodendron vernix. In southernmost area of prairie fen, 5m southwest from Cornus on the corner of the woods, on the Michigan-Indiana state line. Area dominated by Asteraceae and Carex with some Typha. Shrubs every 9-25m2, mostly Cornus. Phalaris arundinacea encroaching from north, east, and south. Ground with tall hummocks (up to 40cm) and possibly some ant mounds.
Population - Common, not flowering, single, rhizomous. Ligules 1mm long.
