Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Shrub and Carex dominated area; shrubs about 3-4m apart; include Toxicodendron vernix, Spiraea alba and Salix spp. Very hummocky area with areas of inundation between the hummocks; area of inundation comprises 20-25% of quadrat; other areas hummocky; about 25m west of woodland and 40m south of thicker shrub area.
