Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Edge of floating mat; many shrubs and Larix laricina lots of Viburnum nudum and Toxicodendron radicans. Large moss mounds and standing water; canopy cover likely to increase in next few years; Typha stand about 12m to the west; shrubs in all other directions; Thelypteris palustris, Caltha palustris, Rubus pubescens, and many Carex spp. dominate the herbaceous layer.
