Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Inundated area with Larix laricina and Acer rubrum in the overstory; some vegetation mounds; soil where trees are present; floating all elsewhere; Carex sp. Dominating the herbaceous layer along with Thelypteris palustris and Caltha palustris.
