Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. North portion of fen in sedge meadow zone with many Larix laricina, Toxicodendron vernix. Other shrubs include Rhamnus alnifolia, Lindera benzoin, Physocarpus opulifolius. Carex stricta and R. alnifolia dominate coverage in area; many snags still standing; ground wet but not inundated; other species include Eutrochium maculatum, Doellingeria umbellata, Bromus ciliatus, Lythrum salicaria. About 40m north of woodland edge.
