Large north-south fen; multiple ownser; many arms; large expanses of Carex stricta. Fen elongated and amoeboid with many small armas and large amounts of edge. Oak uplands often inserted intro prairie fen as peninsulas. Oftern large amounts of open water due to beaver flooding. Asjacent to railroad that runs the entire length of the fen. Cornus foemina and Carex aquatilis dominated area in middle of fen, just east of river. River out of banks and flooding large parts of area, thus requiring and alternate point location. Fairly weedy area with abundant Phalaris arundinacea about 50m to the north. Other species include Carex lacustris, Thelypteris palustris, Typha latifolia, Pycnanthemum virginicum, Campanula aparinoides, and Eutrochium maculatum. Larix laricina trees close by. Ground inundated.
