Fen curves around east and south portions of the lake. Many "No Trespassing" signs posted. Mostly herbaceous Cyperaceae with shrubs on borders. Actively maintained by The Nature Conservancy. Fay Lake Road borders on east and south side fo fen. 60m south of the lake on the east side of Ruble's dock trail. Canopy of live and dead tamaracks and aspens, shrubs of Cornus, Toxicodendron vernix, and Frangula alnus abundant and common, 0-4 shrubs every 4m2. Carex, Asteraceae, and Pycnanthemum virginianum dominant. Ground uneven and moist. Several old burn piles (bare/low vegetation areas) were crossed on the way in.
Population - Prominent, clumped, 2-5 per 1m2 for 40m2.
