Habitat: In open loblolly pine - post oak woodland on nearly level high spot on rolling landscape underlain by Carrizo Sand, on soils mapped as deep, moderately well drained, neutral fine sand Grossarenic Paleustalfs (Patilo Series). Area burned during Bastrop Complex Wildfire of September 2011. Associates included Aristida lanata, Callicarpa americana, Centrosema virginianum, Clitoria mariana, Cnidoscolus texanus, Commelina erecta, Conyza canadensis, Croptilon sp., Cyperus spp., Desmodium sessilifolium, Dichanthelium spp., Eragrostis spectabilis, Euphorbia corollata, Helianthus annuus, Lactuca sp., Lespedeza hirta, Liatris aspera, L. elegans var. bridgesii, Physalis pubescens, Phytolacca americana, Pinus taeda, Polypremum procumbens, Populus deltoides seedlings, Quercus stellata, Rubus sp., Salix nigra seedlings, Schizachyrium scoparium, Scleria ciliata, Spermolepis divaricata, Trichostema dichotoma, Vernonia texana. Occasional.
Reproductive Condition: flowering=early
