In moist clayey sand or sandy clay along mostly unshaded shoreline of small pond created as habitat for Bufo houtonensis, in burned-over loblolly pine - post oak forest on gentle slope underlain by Eocene sands of the Reklaw Formation, on soils mapped as Axtell-Tabor complex. Area burned during Bastrop Complex Wildfire of September 2011. Associates included Cyperus 31018, Eleocharis quadrangulata, Eleocharis 31019, Juncus diffusissimus, Lindernia dubia, Rotala ramosior.
