Habitat: In openings in low- to medium-stature thorn shrubland on gravelly spongy saline clay soils on gentle slope low on local landscape. Vegetation dominated by Varilla texana, Billieturnera helleri, Suaeda conferta, Sporobolus pyramidatus. Other associates included Amoreuxia wrightii, Atriplex sp. (annual), Castela erecta, Croton leucophyllus, Desmanthus virgatus, Frankenia johnstonii, Hilaria belangeri, Isocoma coronopifolia, Jatropha dioica, Opuntia leptocaulis, Panicum hallii, Phaulothamnus spinescens, Portulaca pilosa, Portulaca retusa, Prosopis reptans, Quincula lobata, Setaria leucopila, Sphaeralcea pedatifida, Thymophylla sp., Trianthema portulacastrum. Frequent.
Reproductive Condition: flowering + fruiting=mid
