Habitat: Occasional in herbaceous vegetation and stump sprouts in broad hunting sendero cut through mixed-stature thornscrub on clayey soils on gently undulating upland underlain by Miocene strata of the Frio Formation. Associates include Abutilon incanum, Acacia berlandieri, A. rigid-ula, A. schaffneri, Acleisanthes obtusa, Ambrosia confertiflora, Aristida purpurea, Cenchrus spinifex, Chamaesyce serpens, Clematis drummondii, Croton lindheimerianus, Desmanthus virga-tus, Ditaxis humilis, Dyssodia tenuiloba, Guaiacum angustifolium, Kallstroemia spp., Leptochloa filiformis, Lantana macropoda, Lycium berlandieri, Mollugo verticillata, Nyctaginea capitata, Prosopis glandulosa, Sida abutifolia, Talinum aurantiacum, Tidestroemia lanuginosa.
Reproductive Condition: fruiting=late
