Habitat: Common, dominant (?) grass in regularly mown but mostly native grassland in deep fine sandy loam of Orelia Series (Typic Ochraqualfs). Associates include Coelorachis cylindrica, Eragrostis secundiflora, Fimbristylis puberula, Juncus marginatus, Limnodea arkansana, Stipa leucotricha, Asclepias oenotheroides, Cassia fasciculata, Coreopsis tinctoria, Engelmannia pinnatifida, Erigeron geiseri, Galactis marginalis, Hedeoma drummondii, Hedyotis greenmanii, Hedyotis nigricans, Lindheimera texana, Limnosciadium pumilum, Psoralea rhombifolia,Pyrrhopappus sp, Rudbeckia hirta, Ruellia nudiflora, Sabatia campestris, Tradescantia occidentalis, Trifurcia lahue.
Reproductive Condition: flowering + fruiting=mid
