Habitat: Shrub to 2 ft. tall. Rather frequent in sandy loam in shade of grazed motte of Quercus virginiana within coastal prairie. On gentle undulating upland landscape underlain by Lissie formation. Associates include Acacia smallii, Calyptocarpus vialis, Cissus incisa, Ilex vomitoria, Lantana sp., Melothria pendula, Panicum hains, Paspalum sp., Physalis sp., Rosa bracteata, Rubus sp., Solanum capsicastrum, Solanum ptycanthum, Tillandsia recurvata, and T. usneoides.
Reproductive Condition: flowering + fruiting=mid
