Habitat: Very loose sandy soils. Schizachyrium dominant, w. Cnidoscolus, Schrankia,Tradescantia, Vitis, Monarda, Froelichia, Yucca, Solanum, Sapindus, many Cyperaceae and grasses. Erect clump-forming rhizomatous perennial @ NE edge of meadow in full sun. Base of culm & collars purple. Lf margins wavy near bast on both sides. Mature spikelets straw-colored.
Reproductive Condition: fruiting=late
