Habitat: Locally common in formerly grazed blue grama - buffalograss grassland on Pullman soils on eolian deposits of High Plains surface. Associates include Allium drummondii, Bouteloua gracilis, Bromus unioloides, Buchloe dactyloides, Hordeum pusillum, Vulpia octoflora and scattered young Prosopis glandulosa.
Reproductive Condition: flowering + fruting=mid
