Habitat: Long and narrow, mostly emergent fen located west of the Raisin River. There are a few stand alone deciduous trees and shrubs and a few pockets of shrub-carr and decidous trees (birch, maple, sumac). Many streams present. Fen is well traveled with worn trails and several marked fence posts. Brush piles, old burn spots, and stumps mark an actively maintained fen. Herbaceous vegetation, 1m tall, mostly Asteraceae with a few Rosaceae underneath, some sort of cherry tree (Plant 30). Approximately 20m from eastern edge of fen. Many dead heads from last year's growth, no open water, bark piece on one side of quadrat.
Description: Flowers - from center of whorl, 2 stalks, which branch into 2 groupings of flowers with 6-12 separate flowers in each group, sepals separate, perfect, each flower is shaped as a star with radial symmetry.
