plants 6-8dm. high, bright green, smooth stems reddish, angled, sparsely strigulose, sparsely hirsute, with few red papillae; veins reddish; leaves remotely denticulate; hypanthium green, glandular-pubescent, with few non-gland-ular hairs; sepals bright red toward tips and in tips, these subterminal and divergent, glandular-pubescent; petals 14x15mm., not orange in age; stigma green, lobes divergent; capsule strigulose, shining, sparsely hirsute, 1.5-2cmx5mm., thickest near base, valves truncate; bracts with spreading tips, persistent; very few flowers opening.
