Locality: United States, Mississippi, Jackson, Gulf Islands National Seashore, Petit Bois Island. Edges of extensive Phragmites marsh bordering the south beach near narrow western section of the island just east of tree line.

Habitat: Edges of marsh bordering beach. Soil characteristics: Duckston sand, 0 to 2 percent slope (365) - poorly drained sands in shallow depressions between coastal dunes and on nearly level flats between dunes and marshes. Associate plant species: Cyperus odoratus, Kosteletzkya virginica, Hibiscus grandiflorus, Toxicodendron radicans, Ampelopsis arborea, Sacciolepis striata, Mikania scandens, Vigna luteola. Rare.
