Habitat: Diverse thornscrub on lacustrine gypseous soils.
Description: Herbaceous perennial from medium sized caudex; inflorescences to 70 cm tall. Scattered. Caudexes not turning red immediately after being cut. Young leaves, flower buds, and SAMs frozen in liquid nitrogen in the field.
Reproductive Condition: flowers
Occurrence Remarks: Conditions reasonable, although starting to dry. Additional material: sample for DNA analysis. Collected for collaborative Caryophyllales transcriptoics project with Stephen Smith (Universisty of Michigan) and Sam Brockington (University of Cambridge.
